Important clinical information
Medical Disclaimer
DD Medical Atlas supports explanation and education; it does not replace individual clinical assessment or professional judgement.
Last updated: 22 September 2026
Not medical advice or diagnosis
The service provides general educational illustrations and annotation tools. It does not diagnose, assess risk, recommend treatment, prescribe, monitor a patient or provide personalised medical or nutritional advice. Using the Atlas does not create a clinician–patient relationship with Graeme Syme, Dyslexic Dietitian or DD Medical Atlas.
Simplified illustrations
Medical illustrations necessarily simplify anatomy, physiology, disease and procedures. They may omit structures, stages, risks, alternatives or anatomical variation. Images are not to scale unless expressly stated and must not be treated as a patient-specific representation.
Specialist review and educational use
Not every illustration has been reviewed or approved by a specialist in the relevant clinical field. The illustrations are provided for general educational use only and are not designed to replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or assistance. If you have questions or concerns about your health, seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
Professional responsibility
Healthcare professionals remain responsible for checking clinically important information against current authoritative sources, applying their own competence and judgement, obtaining informed consent and following local policies. Do not rely on an Atlas illustration as the sole basis for diagnosis, treatment or discharge advice.
No patient-identifiable information
Do not upload or enter names, dates of birth, NHS numbers, faces, case histories or other information that could identify a patient. The Atlas is not a medical-record system. Users are responsible for confidentiality and data-protection compliance.
Sharing
Before sharing an annotated image, check the recipient, annotations and clinical context. Email can be forwarded or misdirected. The sharing tool must not be used to transmit confidential patient information, urgent advice or information requiring a secure clinical-record system.
Accuracy and updates
We aim to maintain useful, evidence-informed content, but medical knowledge and clinical practice change. We do not promise that every illustration will always be complete, current, error-free or appropriate in every country, speciality or clinical situation. Please report suspected errors through the contact form.
